The following poem written by Self, delves into the concept of self-awareness and conscience. It highlights that, regardless of external surveillance or judgment from others, our true monitor is our own conscience. This internal observer is ever-present, constantly evaluating our actions and thoughts. The poem suggests that no matter how well we might deceive the world or mask our true selves, we cannot escape the scrutiny of our conscience. Indeed “ तोरा मन दर्पण कहलाये, भले बुरे सारे कर्मों को देखे और दिखाये”. It encourages introspection, honesty with oneself, and the understanding that the most significant accountability comes from within.
Not the surveillance cameras,
Not the world.
Not the wise,
Not the nerd.
Not your dog,
Not your log.
Not the Spy,
Not the Sky.
Not your kin,
You think you win.
You can hide from the world,
You can also hide from the bird.
You can wear a mask,
In the Sun you may bask.
Good or bad,
Brilliant or ugly.
Your actions, your thoughts,
Privacy is totally sought.
You may be Genuine,
You may be a Fraud,
None knows,
What is your Sort.
Yet someone watches you,
All the time.
Can’t hide, even on sly,
You know fully the Why.
Because your conscience watches you,
All the time,
You may ignore,
But it is fact, it is prime.
So don’t worry about others,
Answer to yourself.
Search yourself,
Discover yourself,
Be true to yourself,
Right or wrong,
Decide yourself.
As you are watching yourself,
All the time.
Guchi.
