Bollywood Movie Sholay: A Military Man’s Tactical Review.

General area Ramgarh was under Thakur Saab’s command. Instead of a regular army, he had untrained, unmotivated farmers, a transport in-charge named Basanti, and Ramu Kaka as a runner.

Ramgarh faced threats from Gabbar Singh, who led a company but usually operated with only a section strength, leaving the rest on various missions. Gabbar had a sharp scout, Samba, who always knew the headcount, and Kalia, who managed supplies and insults with equal fervor. Gabbar’s troops played games like “Goli 6, Aadmi 3” and enjoyed dance performances by Basanti, coerced under gunpoint.

To counter Gabbar’s raids, Thakur requested a special forces buddy pair, Jai and Veeru, known for their high Operational Quotient (OQ). They worked seamlessly, resolving conflicts with a coin toss.

When Gabbar’s raiders first clashed with Jai and Veeru, the SF men, in tactical positions, forced the raiders to retreat, bruising Gabbar’s ego. Gabbar, in a fit of rage, killed three of his men in “Goli 6, Aadmi 3.” Gabbar then planned a full-scale attack on Holi, catching Ramgarh off-guard. However, Jai and Veeru’s training and fire-and-move tactics saved the day, minimizing casualties.

Gabbar retaliated by kidnapping Basanti. Thakur sent Jai and Veeru on a rescue mission, leading to a fierce battle. A strategic bridge became crucial. Veeru took Basanti to safety while Jai, out of ammo, aimed to demolish the bridge with a grenade. The grenade malfunctioned, but Jai’s sharpshooting destroyed the bridge, though he was mortally wounded. Veeru, enraged, single-handedly took down Gabbar’s men and, after a brutal hand-to-hand fight, defeated Gabbar. Thakur wanted to kill Gabbar with his feet and nearly crushed his arms with his studded boots but was saved from taking the law into own hands by the police arrival in nick of time.

Lessons Learned:

With a zeroed weapon, a reliable buddy, and proper training, any mission is possible.
