Need and greed, they do collide,
And create a constant battle deep inside.
One seeks the basics for survival,
The other, more and more with each revival.
Need is modest, simple and pure,
It asks for just enough to endure.
Greed, however, is insatiable,
It wants it all, it’s undeniable.
Need finds satisfaction in little,
Greed is never satisfied, it’s fickle.
One seeks balance, the other excess,
It’s up to us to choose, no less.
For need is humble, greed is bold,
One brings peace, the other, avarice untold.
Need makes you a hardworking and reasonable human,
But greed creates in you a demon.
Lord grant us the power to choose wisely in all we do,
And let our needs be a few.
