If one cannot take a relationship or venture into its logical conclusion, it is better to give it a graceful exit. However one should be careful not to burn bridges, as one never knows when a need may arise to renew your attempts to salvage the same. Reminds me a couplet from a famous old Bollywood song from film ‘Gumrah’ which runs as under.
‘वोह अफसाना जिसे अंजाम तक लाना न हो मुमकिन,
उसे एक ख़ूबसूरत मोड़ दे कर छोड़ना अच्छा.’
(The episode which cannot be brought to its fruition, it is better to exit by giving it a beautiful turn).”
